Speaker Michelle Leonard will outline the top sources and resources for tracing Scottish and English ancestors.

This presentation, with speaker Michelle Leonard, will outline the top sources and resources for tracing Scottish and English ancestors including the key civil registration records such as births, marriages and deaths and older church records such as parish records (England) and Old Parish Registers (Scotland) which include information on baptisms, marriage banns and burials. She will also explain what you can learn from Scottish and English census returns, valuation rolls, Scottish kirk sessions, old maps etc., and will outline a plethora of websites you can use to aid your Scottish and English family history research journey. 

Co-hosted with with the Kane County Genealogical Society.
