Join artist and writer Carly Palmer for a creative writing workshop! This workshop will introduce participants on how to bridge the connection between image and word. By capturing our first impressions, thoughts, and feelings into words, we are able to tell a new story. Likewise, it offers art itself the chance to “speak” in more ways than one. Students will be guided with writing prompts to deepen their creative process and self-expression.
Ekphrastic Poetry: Students will be guided in writing their own ekphrasis poem inspired by well-known artworks. Ekphrastic Poetry has come to be defined as poems written about works of art; however, in ancient Greece, the term “ekphrasis” was applied to the skill of describing something with vivid detail. In addition to the descriptions of a work of art, an ekphrastic poem usually includes an exploration of how the witness is impacted by their experience.
No experience is necessary. All are welcome! Just bring an open mind to play with possibilities!
The Library is located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Batavia Avenue (IL-31) and Wilson Street (the main east-west street through town).
