Learn about the history of Batavia's three Railroad Companies and six lines.

By the peak of rail service in the 1920s Batavia had three railroads with six different lines in town. There were three lines on the east side of the Fox River and three on the west.

The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, the Chicago and Northwestern and the Chicago, Aurora and Elgin each had two lines serving Batavia. Explore passenger and freight service provided to Batavia’s citizens and industry.

Presented by Leo Phillipp, Burlington Route Historical Society Board Member and VP Outreach and Education.
